"Be the change you want to see in the world"

Gandhi:

Role model for ecology, peace, and a life of justice and freedom.

The change we all hope for is within us.

It means: to observe ourselves, and let the course of our lives show us what needs to be removed or modified in our lives; things such as our habits, our ways of relating to each other and, in general, the consequences of our actions, all of which are ultimately up to us. We are part of a whole, and that whole keeps on changing as you change each part- like a puzzle- and each piece is important to the final outcome.

“THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY”

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

Margaret Mead

The world is unusually big if measured by human standards. We cannot reside and take action in every corner of the world, but we can take action within ourselves and our own little corner in the world. These changes can transfer themselves and be completely effective if done with energy and compassion.

You can say that a problem is way too big for you to be able to handle on your own. We tend to think, as individuals, than one single action is insignificant- that everything we do or say won’t make as slight difference in the everyday duties of the world as a whole. But what if we dedicated even half the time we waste complaining and feeling insignificant, trying to take action to resolve these issues instead? With our attitudes alone we can choose to either add or subtract from our own happiness; it’s as simple as that.

"Using The Elements..."

USING THE ELEMENTS TO CONSTRUCT OUR HOMES:

EARTH:

The land is made up of organic matter-things like compost, wood, metals, stones of all sizes, sand, gravel, nutrients, water, air and minerals. The mixture of soil, preferably in large quantities of sand and clay, and materials such as grain straw mixed with water, produces a substance that when used with certain physical and mechanical properties, is a fully optimal, natural, economic, and suitable form of building : COB, ADOBE and other types of material that combine these are some examples of how this incredible element  used to form our planet can be used also to form our homes.

The Four Elements

  • PDF

ELEMENTS: WATER, EARTH, FIRE, AIR

…"In one Atom are found all the elements of the earth.
In one motion of the mind are found the motions of all the laws of existence.
In one drop of water are found the secrets of all the endless oceans.
In one aspect of you are found all the aspects of existence…”

Khalil Gibran

The universe is made up of the elements. The planet is made up of the elements.  But we are not only surrounded by them. We are made up by them. Is it illogical or unnatural to think that our homes and everyday items can be made up of them? We are the elements.

Science says that everything is energy, which vibrates at different frequencies; and it’s our senses, that allow us to perceive it in the way that we do. But if we broke down the apparent "matter" that forms us, we see that it’s these four primary elements that make up the structure of our bodies. Therefore, every little piece of us starts up as WATER, FIRE , AIR, AND EARTH.

THE PROPOSAL: EVOLIVING -

“ The freedom to enjoy the outside from the inside, and the inside from the outside.”

The Hippie Revolution of the 1960s initiated an elevated way of thinking, seeking for harmony and a closer, more sustainable relationship between man, nature, and peace. They wanted peace and love, liberty and equality. They opened up a way of living that was less structured and very different from the norm during that decade. The idea in and of itself was beautiful, innovative, and well thought out. However, the way this concept has been executed throughout the years is not.

We have since then revolutionized from this change of attitude. Whether it’s small or big, all human beings try to drift toward a way of living that is healthier, more eco-friendly, and fulfilling. But, carrying that out has been complex and problematic. The structure of society fools man into thinking they are the protagonists in their own lives, all the while using man to shine the focus on the seemingly important things- success, material possessions, and entertainment. It puts the spotlight on the ephemeral, the temporary, and the superficial. And still ignorance governs us and fear dominates our every decisions.
